Interim Event Director, Property Week, UBM Built Environment, VAC 764

Job summary/purpose:
Reporting to the Group Director, the Event Director is responsible for the successful delivery of all existing and new exhibitions, conferences and awards events across the Property Week event brands, ensuring budgets are achieved within revenue and cost parameters.
 
Key Tasks/Responsibilities
• The Event Director will have full responsibility for the P&L of the live events portfolio, Including exhibitions, conference-led exhibitions, awards and conferences. This role requires the Event Director to have wide industry knowledge and to be well versed in all aspects of running a successful events portfolio. The candidate must be a driven, self starter who is not only able to manage the planning and budgeting process but who is also able to think strategically about the development of new events and initiatives.
• The Event Director will lead a team of 13 (across sales, marketing, conference production and logistics) The candidate will need to be well versed in all aspects of people management, including chairing meetings, analytical review, weekly 121’s, implementing strategy and direction for the team and creating reports for the Group Director.
• The Event Director will be responsible for working with marketing in developing  marketing communication strategies for all events; with conferences and logistics to deliver the events; with sales to deliver its financial and strategic objectives  and with all other internal departments when needed
• Successfully deliver the events that make up the Property Week portfolio. This includes liaising with venues, managing numerous suppliers and working with the wider team to deliver events of the highest quality across the board.
• The Event Director will also need to lead the sales team, who are responsible for stand and sponsorship revenue across the live events portfolio.
• Create and implement successful business development strategies in conjunction with the Group Director, in order to grow live events operation in the UK and internationally, taking existing brands and shows overseas, whilst at the same time developing new products.
• The Event Director is a key part of the Property Week senior management team so will be expected to position oneself accordingly within the department and the industry.
• The Event Director will need to be an excellent networker within the industry so that the needs of our clients and readers are at forefront of our thinking and so that trends affecting the wider awards/exhibitions markets are integrated into our strategy.
• Recruitment, motivation and coaching of staff to ensure successful deliver of strategic objectives.
• Complete annual Performance Plus for the team
 
Measurement indicators:
• Deliver budgeted revenue and continue to lead the way in the commercial property market.
• Weekly 121’s with Group Director to monitor and direct performance.
• 6 monthly ADR’s
• Significant event management experience, preferably with a track record in managing exhibitions, conferences and awards across a diverse portfolio.
• Knowledge & experience of the property industry preferred.
• Forward thinking, with a strong focus on customers/delegates and market trends.
• Excellent financial and reporting skills
• Proactive management of relationships with internal and external partners and suppliers.
• Self-motivated, professional and focused in all aspects of work
• Exceptional time management and logistic organisational skills
• Ability to think strategically and develop strong live event strategic plans
